Discover our Library
The Talkeetna Public Library is more than a place to borrow books — it's a destination worth exploring. Step outside and you'll find a frisbee disc course winding through the grounds, a peaceful walking trail, a community garden, and an outdoor amphitheater perfect for warm Alaskan evenings. Look closer and you'll discover hidden gems: a stunning stained glass window, a seed catalog, a donor wall honoring the community members who made it all possible, and a beloved fish sculpture that's become a local landmark. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime Talkeetna local, there's always something new to find at your library — inside and out.

Beyond the Books
Children’s Literary Trail
The Friends of the Talkeetna Library have completed the Children’s Literary Trail Project. The approximately 1/4 mile trail now has 10 places to stop and read a page or three from a children’s book. The books will be changed out frequently until winter.

Seed Catalog
Small packages of seeds will be available for you to start your gardens. Each packet will include directions for planting. The Talkeetna Library has partnered with the Mat-su Seed Library to keep the catalog stocked.
Puzzle Table
Practice for the annual puzzle competition by visiting the puzzle table set up year round by the fire place.
Teacher Shelves
In cooperation with the elementary school staff in Talkeetna, the Friends of the Talkeetna Library are stocking books that the Talkeetna Elementary teachers included on a wish list. Shelves are labeled with the teacher’s name and grade level at the public library.
